Digital or Film?
For Brides |
Welcome to Seattle's Best Wedding Photography! Looking for a photographer for your wedding or special event? Have you been going from site to site trying to find a photographer that offers high-quality photography but who doesn't cost a fortune? You've come to the right place! Here at Seattle Wedding Photography I do things a bit differently than the typical "wedding photographer". Not sure if you want your wedding recorded using film or digital media? We are one of the few wedding photography studios in Seattle that gives you a choice. If you want traditional film photography I have both medium format and 35mm film cameras. If you prefer digital photography I also have pro-grade digital cameras. For either film or digital photography I have packages designed to fit almost any budget. And if none of my packages is a match for what you need I even offer custom packages, so we can design a package to give you exactly the wedding photography coverage you want. All of my packages, either digital or film, include prints of every photo I take at your wedding or special event. And these are not cheap "proof prints" made on an inkjet printer, but professionally processed long-life prints made using dye-process equipment. Did you know that with most wedding photographers you do not own the rights to your own photos? And that you also do not own the negatives or digital files that will allow you to make reprints or enlargements? At Seattle's Best Wedding Photography every wedding package includes either all of the negatives of your photos (if you choose a film package) or a high-resolution CD of all of the digital files (if you choose a digital package). You also receive a copyright release that will allow you to make reprints or enlargements of any or all of your photos at the photo lab of your choice. This can save you hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars on photography costs. Most of my wedding packages include a selection of 5x7 and 8x10 enlargements, as well as an album. And with my film packages you also have the option of having all of your negatives scanned and put onto a CD so you can email copies to friends and relatives, build a wedding website, or even play with your pictures using Photoshop or other imaging software. Please see the Weddings page on my site for details. Experience makes the Difference! But Seattle Wedding Photography isn't just about the best prices available for wedding photography. I offer quality and experience that matches or exceeds that of any studio in Seattle or anywhere else; you just don't have to pay through the nose to get it! With over 20 years experience as a professional wedding photographer I have photographed more weddings (1200 plus) than all but a handful of other area photographers. And please believe me when I tell you that wedding photography is a business where experience really does make a difference. These days it seems just about everyone has a friend with a digital camera; you probably even have one yourself. But even if your friend has spent the thousands of dollars on back-up camera bodies, extra lenses and flashes, spare memory cards, portable studio lighting and all of the other tools and toys owned by a serious wedding professional (and you know they haven't), wedding photography is about a lot more than just having the right tools for the job. Experience is king! The experienced pro knows where he or she has to be to catch the most important moments of the day as they happen, and is able to capture those photos in such a manner as to be unnoticed by those whose pictures he is taking. And here's a biggee - Unlike some studios, I photograph every wedding personally, so when you see
my work you know that you'll receive the same quality at your own
wedding. You probably aren't aware that many studios will "sub out" some or all of their weddings to other photographers. With these studios when you look at samples of their work you may not even be seeing any photos taken by the photographer who will show up at your wedding. When you see examples of any photography either on my website or in my studio you are always seeing my own work. And when you hire me to record the memories of one of the most important days of your life, I will be the photographer who actually does the photography, so you know that you are getting the same quality photography at your own wedding as what you see in my sample albums. My Photographic StyleI specialize in what can best be described as a mixture of traditional wedding photography and candid or documentary techniques, a style described in photo magazines as Portrait Journalism. As you look at the sample photos in my Galleries you'll notice that I not only work to capture the people and events but also the surroundings. I love to look for that dramatic lighting or special background that will allow me to create really memorable photos throughout the course of the day. I'm part of the school that believes that it is very important to have some posed photos during your wedding day, since that is the only way to create group photos of family and the wedding party that actually will show the faces of everyone in the picture. And by taking the time to place the subjects of my photos (that would be you!) in the best positions for the lighting and location I can create some truly unique images of your day that you will treasure forever. While I think it is very important to have some posed photos, once those pictures are completed (I call them the "Necessary Evil" photos) I do my best to disappear. I like to stalk the bride, groom, wedding party and family members from a distance with a zoom lens. This allows me to get natural, spontaneous photos without the subject even being aware that it is happening. My clients tell me that they want to have a true photographic record of this very special day, and that is what I strive to produce. Judging from their feedback (see the Testimonials page) I do it very well! Have Camera, Will Travel I have been the photographer at destination weddings all over the United States, including California, Oregon, Massachusetts, Michigan and Vermont. Most of my weddings are in the greater Seattle area but I have no problem traveling; in fact I look forward to it! If your wedding is being held outside of Washington State, or perhaps even outside of the United States, I would still love to talk with you about your wedding plans. I only charge my actual travel expenses and if your wedding is taking place somewhere really exotic or out of the ordinary I may even put together an extra-special package for you, since I love to visit new and different places. Please contact me if a destination wedding is in your plans.
Please Explore my Site! I hope you will take the time to really look through my website to see what I have to offer. There are many sample pictures and lots of information that can help make your wedding day go as smoothly as possible. If you have any questions you can either phone or email me and I'll be happy to answer them. Please visit the Contact page of my site for my email address and phone number.
Thanks for visiting, and I hope I'll have the chance to work with you as your photographer
